It is a merciless, heart-wrenching Norse-inspired epic that never lets you catch a breath. From start to finish, I was utterly captivated. The Hunger of the Gods is sheer perfection. This did not influence my thoughts or opinions. underwhelming Great start with book 1 but its a shame book 2 was such a let down.

Pacing of the book was flat and the end of it was just. Skolds drengar has more personality than drekkar. Thun the stone giant in the hall with Elvar has more lines in the book than Drekkar does in the entirety of 2 books and you never hear anything about what drekkar has actually done to deserve this reputation. There is absolutely ZERO mention in the book or portail of his character that would make you believe this. + Lift grows as a character and you get to see his progression + Fight scenes are terrific and the author isn't afraid to let some loveable characters die (no-spoilers) + You get to see/hear more of the gods side of events - Biggest con for me by far is that throughout every book, they go on about how Drekkar is feared and people are unwilling to betray him out of fear. I couldn't wait to get it but it felt like it completely missed the mark. Really disappointed with the story on book 2.
